Be messy, and complicated, and afraid and show up anyways.- Glennon Doyle
Born and raised in the Bay Area, I began working in mental health in 2010. Before this career, I pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art, working with all of the messy, hands-on mediums. Later, I entered graduate school to complete my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy, with an emphasis in Art Therapy.
I have spent many clinical hours working with youth and families facing challenges related to anxiety, depression, ADHD, ASD, social skills and behavioral challenges. Additionally, I am passionate about working with those in recovery from alcoholism, addiction, codependency and trauma.
Art therapy differs from traditional talk therapy as it is like a cozy art space where feelings find their voice through markers and clay. It's not just about making pretty pictures; it's a safe place where clients can express what's hard to put into words. Whether it's doodling frustrations or painting dreams, art therapy lets individuals explore emotions without pressure. It's like a secret language between them and the therapist, where every sketch tells a story and every sculpture holds a feeling. In this creative space, healing isn't just about talking—it's about coloring outside the lines and finding beauty in the messiness of growing up.
